How Much Should You Charge for Rent?

My experience with Key Realty Center as an inherited tenant was incredibly disappointing and reprehensible. I had been a reliable tenant for over 8 years under the previous landlord, but the transition to new management brought confusion, aggressive paperwork demands, and a clear lack of professional communication. I was issued an eviction notice due to a disagreement about updated application paperwork—even though I had already provided the necessary information multiple times and still paying rent throughout the transition. The office appeared overwhelmed, and his single staff member admitted to managing 150+ properties with very limited support. I was eventually forced to move out at my own expense, despite consistent communication the past 8 years and a clean tenancy record. The move-out process included questionable charges, such as repainting rooms that had remained the same color since I moved in. It felt like a typical nickel-and-dime tactic from a company focused on cheap management. The posturing and condescending tone during the whole experience was combative, "my way or the highway" and frankly embarrassing. I hope future tenants—especially long-term ones—receive clearer, more respectful treatment. I strongly recommend documenting everything in writing, and if possible, consider working with a more professional and transparent property management company. P.S. You forwarded my paltry $200 check to the same address I was leaving instead of the new address I provided to your team. Sheeesh 🤦‍♂️
